My cumulative W gpa before senior year is a 3.77 (yikes), and sat score, which hasn’t come out yet is im assuming around a 1270-1300
However, my grades just this quarter is a 4.44 with 5 APs, so I’m hoping they look at these grades if I apply EA… my grades after sophomore year showed a significant improvement
the people who got in EA at my school in the past (this decade) had an avg of 3.97 W and 1208 SAT (my school doesnt do unweighted)
By the end of 1st semester, my cumulative gpa would be a 3.9something weighted
I am taking the practice SATs and so far they have been around 1400
the people who got in RD at my school had an avg gpa of 4.17 W and 1347 SAT
Which one is my best bet? I know not everything is about numbers, but I really am having trouble deciding. If it helps at all, I am a very competitive (not really well known yet) figure skater who trains 15-20 hours a week, and northeastern is pretty huge for figure skating (group of 30-40 in the intramural club, and the area of boston is known for being quite popular for having great skaters). Will this increases my chances more EA or RD or is there no difference?
I think you answered your own question. Your GPA this quarter will be factored into your GPA if you apply RD and not EA, so apply RD. With your SAT scores and GPA, you’d probably be deferred to RD anyway - so don’t bother with EA.
When you say this decade, I’m not sure if you mean since 2010 or 2006-2016. Either way, past performance is not a great indicator of admission this year just because the reputation of the school changed so much so rapidly that “averages” including old stats aren’t very helpful.
That being said, I agree with suzyQ7 and would recommend RD if you want your drastically improved senior grades to count.
According to the NU website enrolled freshmen in 2016 mid 50% was 2010-2200 which translate through the concordance table for the new SAT as 1440-1540. RD definitely.
I’m VERY confident you will get deferred to RD if you apply EA.Read the EA results thread in this forum. Why the rush to apply EA - you need those fall term grades.
