Hey CC,

So I've already been admitted to a few colleges but part of me wants to apply to a strong engineering school in NYC, and considering the NYU-Poly merger I thought I'd give Poly a chance. I want to major in Aerospace, but considering Poly doesn't have the major, I'm sure Mechanical would do. However, where I end up attending is based heavily on finances and unless I get a pretty nice grant/scholarship from Poly I wouldn't be able to attend. I've already applied to CUNY Macaulay and CCNY (Grove School of Engineering) but I'm not too enthusiastic since hearing much negativity surrounding the school. The only reason I may decide not to apply to Poly is because the Priority Deadline for scholarships has passed (December 10th), I know I'm still in time for Early Action II (February 15th) and scholarships are announced sometime in February, but would I have a worse shot at getting any aid? My stats are a little above average for Poly but I'm not sure if they'd be enough to earn much merit. To anyone confused because of the Early Action II deadline, NYU Poly has a rolling deadline of July 13th. What should I do? Thanks for all your help!

Poly does give nice financial aid to it’s students. Apply EA 2.

NYU-Poly actually has a minor in Aerospace Engineering that students doing the Mechanical Engineering program can pursue (some free ME electives are replaced with AE classes, so it doesn’t end up being more work, but rather a specialization in AE). Poly is known to give generous financial aid, and even with the merger taking place with NYU early 2014, the aid offered will still be more generous than most of NYU (to preserve Poly’s historic mission). You will graduate from NYU, and the NYU school indicated on your diploma will be the Polytechnic School of Engineering.
I was just told that they are looking at my application and they want me to send mid year grades and schedule an interview. Is that a good sign or what?

Thanks for your input guys, I sent in my application yesterday, now I just have to hope for an acceptance and some aid! and in response to @lilmelonred I think it’d be similar to a deferral since they want additional information to review your application so its neither very bad nor good, just hope for the best! When did you send in your application and under what plan?

i sent in all my stuff beginning of december. And i put EA2. They said it’s kinda rolling admission… Yeah my friend said its good news since they want to find a way to admit me and give me aid or something so im fine with it. :)

Good luck! I hope you get/got in It’s a great school and it’s gotten even better since I joined three years ago. Gonna miss this place to pieces. Good luck wherever you go! :)
