Should I apply to NYU?

So, recently, I just got my new ACT scores back and I received a 35, probably making me more competitive for scholarships in general (not specifically NYU because I really don't understand how they award money)

My family banks in around 180K a year, however, so, do you think NYU can at least give me some money? I don't know anything about how any of this works, and neither do any of my parents. It's also kind of a difficult situation. I live in Georgia right now, but next year my family is moving back to New York. Because of this I applied to colleges in Georgia and New York that can offer me a lot of money (like UGA and Hofstra). But, I always wanted to go to NYU, but then I kind of realized that it was pointless. I will be applying to the College of Arts and Science if I do apply. I'm not necessarily going into NYU thinking I MUST become a doctor. I'm pretty open minded right now, and I know I love Science.

I doubt very much that NYU will give you any money, but you might be in the running. They do have a few scholarships. only to the top top students. You are pretty good, but you are not without short comings.

NYU is typically stingy with aid. But if you want to go, then you should apply and see what happens. Nobody has a crystal ball so the only you will find out if it will work is to apply. You might also look int Fordham in NYC which often has better aid than NYU and is generally considered to be a stronger and better located school as compared to Hofstra (although Hofstra does have a medical school and Fordham does not).

you will get no need-based aid, of course, so you’d have to be one of those few who get merit aid from NYU. That would be easier to do if you had an ivy hook. It’s a crapshoot, but there are very good schools outside of New York that your family might be willing to afford. Some of the SUNY schools are very good in some fields, and they are comparatively inexpensive. Yale is supposedly giving out some aid at 180K! Syracuse would love to have you and they have full ride merit.

Thanks guys for the input! I am also applying to Fordham and Northeastern (I heard both of these schools give out more merit than NYU), so hopefully something works out for me. If not, there’s always Hofstra or UGA

Also ran a net price on Fordham and it looks like it will be around 30K if I don’t get one of the prestigious scholarships.
