Im quite interested in the honors college. I will apply separately soon.
Just wondering if I had a chance of acceptance.
Stats:
Top 5% of class (15/300)
4.557 weighted GPA. We do not have unweighted. I have received 3 B+ averages (in top classes) out of 21 classes in past 3 years. Have taken 8 APs.
1330 math and reading on SAT (overall 2120). Heres the weakness, as my math+reading scores are 40 points below the average :( :(
170 hours of community service. Lots of extracurricular activities: theater, SADD, speech and debate awards, Key Club, editor-in-chief of literary magazine, write for school newspaper.
I was accepted to Drexel in January and received a $22,500 merit scholarship.
Also, how many candidates does the Honors College accept?

Well your statistics are absolutely amazing and congratulations on your acceptance, your scholarship, and your many various achievements throughout life. Who knows what you’ll achieve once you’re a Dragon! I think your chances are very good to get in to the Honors College. I am not sure how many candidates the honors college accepts but I can send you the website which does provide some helpful information such as:

“Since its inception, the College’s enrollment has grown from 33 in 1991 to more than 1,000 in 2002. The academic caliber of students also rose during that time. Honors freshmen in 1996 averaged a 3.48 GPA and 1294 on the SAT. In 2002, they averaged a 3.89 GPA and 1350 on the SAT.”

So as you can see your GPA (weighted) is well above average and your SAT scores are actually quite good. So apply to Pennoni! The worst thing that happens is they say no, and nobody can say you didn’t try.

Best of luck with your application and in all your future endeavors,
The DreXpert

Yes, definitely, apply! I was accepted into the Honors college at the same time as my admission, and I’m rocking the 3.65GPA. I’m incredibly surprised that they haven’t picked you up already…

Thanks so much for answering!!!
You all wrote very kind answers :)

I am REALLY hoping for acceptance. I will most likely send my application in tomorrow by e-mail.

I attended the information session about the Honors College on Accepted Student’s Day and I’m hoping their statistic about sending most students to amazing grad schools is true!
