Should I apply to San Francisco State or go to Community College then transfer to a UC?

Hi, i am a incoming senior. I have a 3.2 GPA unweighted, haven't taken the SAT/ACT yet. I did bad in High school due to learning disabilities (Autism), high anxiety issues, and such. have heard SFSU is a decent school. I always wanted to go to UCLA and UCB, but i heard it is too hard to get into, even as a transfer, which makes me look into the CSU's. I am interested in Math and History, and want to possibly major between those two disciplines. How does SFSU rank in Mathematics and History? I don't have good extracurriculars either, just cross country and track for a year. Anyways, would I be wise for going to SFSU or skipping it and going to a Community College? I am very interested in learning, but have a hard time discipling myself. I am interested in SFSU because of location. I believe the Bay Area will provide good jobs and such.

If I were you I would consider the CC route, which might allow you to keep your anxiety levels to a minimum while still taking college level courses. You could then determine if you want to transfer to a CSU or UC based on your success with your IGTSE or AA. Several UC’s have TAG’s, which will also reduce any admission anxiety.

That said, SFSU is a solid school that will give you much of what your need, particularly for Math. With any CSU, try not to focus on graduating in four years, as many programs are impacted. You would also get the ‘college experience’ if you lived on campus as a freshman. Note that almost all students move off campus after the first year or so, and area housing is expensive.

Other alternatives would be to attend a school like U Arizona, who offer strong support through their SALT Center (which requires a separate application), or find a smaller private school (with strong financial aid) that would be supportive of your LD’s and could work with your anxieties. All schools do have mandated disability supports, but some schools are better than others as far as accessing services. Be sure that you have paid a visit to the DSS office at any school prior to sending in your deposit.

I decided on going to MiraCosta College in Oceanside, CA for 2-4 Years and possibly transfer to UCLA (if i get in) after that or another UC. I want to major in Math/Science (Really interested in Cell/Developmental Molecular Biology) degree and possibly go to law school after finishing undergrad. I am currently thinking of becoming a Patent Lawyer. Are there any other good jobs that involve math/science with law school?

I am having a hard time deciding on a major. I am interested in STEM, and i know it is hard work, but am interested in it.

The only reason i was considering SFSU was because of location, but not anymore because I read that it is mediocre.
