Should I apply to Stanford? I will chance you back

So I am not too confident in my chances at some places where I am applying. But people around me tell me they think I will get in, and a couple have told me to aim even higher. I do like Stanford, but have never considered it because I just assumed I would get rejected. So I do I have a decent shot? Should I take the time to apply? Thank you for taking the time to read this. I will chance you back if you provide a link.

Additional information:
I am currently working on a senior project on stem cells. I am interning at a top cancer research center to learn about stem cells. My responsibilities include: taking mature red blood cells and centrifuging them into separate parts; then using this, creating induced pluripotent stem cells from the red blood cells by reprogramming them; next generating, maintaining, and cyropreserving the new stem cells; and finally, differentiating them stem cells into two different lineages, first into cardiac muscle, then into red blood cells again. In the end I will teach a class to high school students about centrifuging blood cells and then explain how this was essential to my project and research in general. This is entirely my project, and not some program that I am jumping into.

I have also been in orchestra for 8 years, and can play the Bass and Cello. I am the Principal Bassist of my Orchestra.

I am member of JSA and have received a varsity letter for being in the top 10% of participants of the club.

I have increased the Science club membership from 15 members to 63 members since becoming president.

Essays:
Common app essay is very strong. It is about skiing with my dad and how I enjoy challenging myself. I have spent much time on it and it really reveals a lot about who I am.

I have looked over the Stanford supplements and I think I could write strong essays for all of the prompts.

Letters of Rec:
Letter from AP bio teacher. I had her for 2 years, she is the advisor for Science Club. She is also my staff contact for my senior project. It should be amazing.

Letter from APUSH teacher. It should be pretty good, but nothing incredible.

I'm also have a letter from someone I am working in the lab with on my senior project. She really wanted to write me a letter and said that it was a very great letter.

Please tell me what you think about me applying to Stanford. Thank you for taking the time to read this and reply.

You definitely seem like a qualified applicant to Stanford

You should definitely apply. Your seem like a strong candidate and also very well rounded. Just out of curiosity, what race are you ?
Good luck and let me know how it goes!

You should apply, but Stanford is a reach for you.

Chance back?

Thanks guys! I am a white male. The other thing is about 10 or so people in my class (with 71 students) are applying. Stanford tends to accept one student from my school each year. And all of them are well qualified. One girl is probably more qualified than I am and has legacy and minority representation in her favor.

What would my chances be if I applied?

If that girl is more qualified than you and is a minority, you might have a very hard time getting in.

Well I’m not sure that she is more qualified. We have similar course loads and grades. She has slightly better test scores. I’m sure she does a ton outside of school. But she is a minority religion, ethnically, and has a sister who is a current Stanford student.

Thank you so much for the responses everyone!

You should apply. Why not? Although no one is a definitely going to be admitted, you might as well try.

Well applying to Stanford means not doing ED at Duke, which I have until November 15th to change to RD.

stanford’s ddl has already passed right…?

You are definitely a solid candidate seeing you have good grades and really awesome ECs. If Stanford superscores ACT, that will help you out a lot too. Short answer: definitely apply and give it a shot. Please chance me back!

you sound kind of like me (but better haha) i think you’ve got like a 10% chance and you should definitely apply. chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1576585-chance-brown-ed-cmu-ed2-cornell-tufts-nyu-brandeis-bu-uri-uconn.html
