Hi! I am a grade 11 (junior) from Canada and wondering whether or not I should apply to the US. It will not be worth the money if I don’t go somewhere with at least top 40 ranking.
I am in the IB and my school doesn’t have APs. This year so far I have 96% average (one 86 and everything else above 94, should be a ~3.9 GPA) and 1550 on the new SAT (800 math). I could very likely get >700 on SAT math 2. My school doesn’t do class rank, but I would probably have a high rank.
However, I don’t really do any ECs. I finished the mandatory volunteer hours a long time ago at a local summer camp, and joined the school’s academic-related clubs (math, physics, biology, science olympics, etc) I applied for many, many summer math/science programs but was rejected/still waiting for decisions.
Would I have a chance at any of the top 40 (ex. the UCs)? What could I do to improve?
