I’ve had “University of Pennsylvania” sitting on my Common App as a school I always claim to be a reach-- because it is. Knowing that its acceptance rate is roughly 9%, I don’t know if its worth it or not to apply.
I visited upenn this summer when I was in Philly, and I fell in love. The campus is beautiful and its location is even better. I loved Philadelphia’s urban setting while maintaining its historical buildings and streets.
I can’t really be the judge of myself but I’d like to know if my application would’t look ridiculous within the application pool.
My weighted GPA is a 4.6 and my unweighted is a 3.3
I have taken seven AP classes in total and I have passed them all, 3 of them with 5s (spanish lang,us history, psychology) , 2 with 4s (european history, english lit), and 2 with 3s (world history, english lang)
All my classes have been rigorous, especially the IB curriculum-- we have the Extended Essay, CAS, research papers, etc.
My SAT is based on the new SAT standards, I got a 1420/1600
Reading/Grammar: 700/800
Math: 720/800
Writing: 20/24
I took two SAT subject tests, Math I and Biology E, and I’m still waiting for the results. However, based on my practice tests I can possibly get high scores.
For my extra curricular I am part of enough activities I think.
I hold two leadership positions. One in Ecology Club where I am the PR Manager. Also, at my Youth Group at community church I am a leader.
I am part of a theatre as part of the writing staff , Art Director for the IB Yearbook, English Honor Society and Social Studies Honor Society, Involved in a mentorship program for underclassmen in my high school
For sports, I ran track my freshmen year
Volunteered at orphanage for two years.
For community service I have around 550 hours.
I’m aware there’s going to be applications that will look better than mine. :-S That’s why I’m doubting this, and my unweighted GPA really affects the application as a whole. My school doesn’t do rankings either, so I can’t provide that information.
Any feedback would be appreciated
