Then I recieved a email with my login and my personal information ALREADY FILLED IN!

After that, I sent Tulane a message asking whether I was hand picked or not, they haven't reply in days.

My ACT is 29 and my GPA is 3.5 Both below the average for Tulane

Do you think I should apply(It's free)?

Or do they intentionally make you apply so then they can reject to you, thus make their acceptance rate lower?

Their acceptance rate is lower than many more well known school such as U of Chicago, Emory, Rice and NYU.

Ana, Ana Ana! You are too young to be such a cynic, lol. The ACT of 29 is right at the lower end of the middle 50% range (29-32), so yes it is below the average but over 25% of the students have the same or lower score than you, and if that GPA is UW then it is probably about the Tulane average, certainly close. And not to nitpick, but the acceptance rate last year was virtually dead even with U Chicago. I suspect, but haven’t looked it up, that Emory and Rice were not too different. But it is apples and oranges since Tulane’s app is free, and the others (I assume) are not. So Tulane get’s far more apps than those schools, and its yield is lower as well. It is just a different strategy they put in place in 2002 or 2003 that has been successful for them, if by success one means increasingly higher stats for the incoming classes, sometimes by a significant amount. One has to ignore the class following Katrina since there was still so much uncretainty out there about New Orleans and Tulane. The increasing stats leveled off last year with the incoming class being a very small smidge below the class before in average test scores, but in essence a tie. Preliminarily it seems there might be another uptick this year, we will see who matriculates. Finally, as I recall % accepted has either been eliminated or greatly reduced as a factor in the USNWR rankings, so the incentive to play the game that way is not too strong.

So to your question, should you apply? Well, if you got in would you seriously think about going? Because with a 29 ACT and a 3.5 GPA, even if UW, I don’t think you would be offered a merit scholarship. Not trying to be harsh, I think those are excellent stats. Just the reality compared to what I have seen from other posters and the PMs I get.

But an awful lot of people think Tulane is an excellent school and love it there. If you think it could be for you and you can afford it, by all means you should apply.

OK, never mind Ana. You posted on a Harvard thread that your ACT was 35 and your GPA 4.6. Not sure why you are playing games, one place or the other. Although after reading your thread about being dismissed from the ACT test for cheating, it seems you are a ■■■■■ indeed.

FC, can you please tell me what a “■■■■■” is? I’ve seen it before on cc and can deduce what it probably is, but would love to know the " cc definition" - thanks!

Generally a ■■■■■ is someone that is annoying, disruptive, or even abusive in online discussion groups. In this case, it’s someone that’s wasting our time by pretending they are someone they’re not and asking questions they don’t need answered. Sad, but that’s the internet.

thanks for the clarification

How bizzare. If what fc reports is true, could you please explain your behavior Anacrusis?

Please stay on topic guys.

I did apply to Harvard, they haven’t reject me yet. And no my GPA is not that crazy.

fallenchemist Thanks for answering my question, I already got accepted to all my fallback schools: Auburn, Florida and Clemson. Also the New college of Florida accepted me. I don’t if I should give Tulane a try since I’m invited and it’s free.

And no I’m not a ■■■■■, all my question were valid, except the slight exaggeration of my grade in the Harvard thread.

anacrusis’ posts speak for themselves.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
AVHS Dad is right, I’m not a ■■■■■. Thanks for helping out.

I’m just curious anacrusis…why would you exagerate your grades on a blog where nobody even knows who you are?? I would think that you would want accurate information that pertains to you, and if you are exagerating about your grades/stats, you won’t get accurate information. And, for the record, I believe that the email that you received is sent out to many, many people (my daughter received it). Everything listed in your email is what every applicant is offered…automatic consideration of merit scholarships, no application fee, and no personal essay. With all due respect, you should look into what Tulane is all about. Tulane is a school that places a huge emphasis on public service and thus wants students who are committed to service. If you aren’t into that kind of thing, and that will show on your application, then I’m not sure that Tulane would be a good fit for you. I would also ask yourself why you exagerated your stats.

Yeah, I love the term slight exaggeration. From 3.5 to 4.6 and for the ACT, from 29 to 35. She kind of left out that she inflated both, and quite dramatically. Hard to believe anything she says. ■■■■■■ are always bad fits at Tulane, or any other decent school, because it shows you have no maturity.

BTW, for those of you that have no experience with ■■■■■■, better not to say anything else (called feeding the ■■■■■ when you do) and that way the thread just dies.

It’s strange that Anacrusis has already been accepted by Florida when the rest of the world has to wait for the February 12 decision notification date.

fallenchemist do you think I typed all that just to waste your time? I could have spent all this time talk to my boyfriend but instead come here ask for your valueble opinion.

"It’s strange that Anacrusis has already been accepted by Florida when the rest of the world has to wait for the February 12 decision notification date. "

It’s something called “Early action”

I’m familiar with the term, but the University of Florida did away with EA/ED in 2007.

Lol anacrusis was in young democrats and young republicans

“she” wanted to break the record for most club memberships. Admissions officers LOVE to see that kind of commitment!

@fallenchemist
“■■■■■■ are always bad fits at Tulane”

Wow, talk about bad word usage, Is that even a proper English Term?

And my Weighted GPA is 3.86, unweighted is 3.5 considered I took so many ap classes

@Mopinionated

Exception can always be made, especially when my Dad works there.
