Should I ask for letters of recommendation from a SPECIFIC subject?

<p>Planning on going to Carnegie Mellon, NYU, Stony Brook, BU, Northeastern, etc. for engineering. Does it matter what subject a teacher teaches if I ask them for a letter of recommendation?</p>
