should i ask why they don't let me in?

So far I have been rejected by 2 schools; two more to go and not having much faith coz they are even harder schools to get in...

Should I ask?? May be for next year's applicaiton's sake?

But I wonder if I can apply for transfer in an exchange program??

I don't see why you shouldn't. If you can find out your flaws before next year, and correct them, it's always a step in the right direction.

You can ask, but my guess is that they won't tell you anything you can use. You'll probably get something along the lines of, "We had very few transfer openings this year", etc. etc.

you should ask...why not? :)

i got rejected by ucla, called and asked why, and it turns out they made a mistake the first time... so i got reevaluated and then i got in. i don't think this is a typical case so i don't want to get your hopes up or anything, but asking might be worth it. good luck.

i sent an email saying that i applied last yr and got waitlisted and i applied this yr and got rejected wondering why the desicion was worse. and they emailed back with actual thought. she said my grades were fine but they thought i wouldnt be any happier with their school based on my commonapp transfer essay and she said another reason. i think you should go ahead and ask. you don't have anything to lose. and finding out why actually made me feel a little better because now i know that it wasn't a great fit for me.

do you think that sometimes being involved in too many organizations at your current school, can be a hindrance to your transfer application?

it can. it will show immaturity instead of showing your commitment to extracurriculars....

immaturity?

i mean if they are meaningful organizations that show strong character and commitment it may help? what about multiple leadership positions on campus?

Immaturiy? We are talking about extracurricular activities in college here, not guitar hero II tournaments.

Haha jacknjill. I think it really depends, to address applynow's organization question. If those organizations seem to be related to your interests, then I imagine they would be an immense boost. If, on the other hand, it seems as if you're just attempting to "pad" your application with club after club...then it may be detrimental. If you're involved in a number of leadership positions and you're able to tie that to a common theme, perhaps in one of your transfer essays, you're at an advantage.
