Should I assume Rejection?!

It seems that everyone got an email with acceptance/waitlist today... if I didn't get one does that mean I am rejected from Oberlin?

Hey MezzoGirl, I’m in the same situation as you. I really hope we’re not rejected :(

Don’t assume anything before you actually receive the notification. They could be sending it out based on instrument or they could be doing it alphabetically. So don’t lose hope. :)

same boat…

I’m sorry 18karat :(. I really wish they’d send out all of the notifications at one time. I really hate snail mail rejections.

i haven’t got the email yet either. i’m freaking out :frowning: i really really really…hope i get in here… i mean REALLY.

Remember that email is not 100% reliable. Someone could have slipped when typing in the address. One of the computers that the message would have to pass through between you and them may be down. The message could have been rejected by your host, shunted into a spam mailbox or automatically deleted if you have set filters to reduce the spam you receive. Hang in there.

Is that usual that he con sends out emails? I thought they sent regular mails and no emails. I guess I didn’t make it then…

got my rejection letter, not surprised really, but the whole email thing is really unprofessional in my opinion

18K, so sorry! You have been a pleasure to follow through the process. Congrats on your acceptances–those schools are lucky to have you.

yeah sending out emails to certain people…that’s really cruel…

SJTH, I agree-- 18K, rachellee, thelovelybones and other young posters have been a pleasure to follow. I’m excited for their successes and sympathetic for their frustrations. I do think college should rethink their methods of notification in this era of instant communication. Applicants learn instantly on FB that their friends have been admitted, and then are left to twist in the wind. It is probably unintentional, but it is cruel.

I agree … and not just colleges, but summer programs too. When you posted that your D had been accepted to S-H but had a schedule conflict, that gave us the heads-up that D3 probably hadn’t been accepted this year. It’s the 24/7 news cycle technology that we humans just haven’t managed to catch up to yet.

Having gone through the process with son back when only a few schools had operational online notification portals, I can see and understand the frustration. Points are well taken.

got my rejection letter as well :/

Stradmom, I’m sorry! My daughter has also made such discoveries via facebook, etc.

I found out here on CC that Berklee decisions had gone out at 6 p.m. last Friday. We were not expecting them until March 31, but we didn’t read the fine print in the email that Admissions sent out earlier in the week saying they would notify BY March 31. My S had already left for his school musical performance. I had to sit through the show and wait for him to get home and make him check his email, which he didn’t want to do. But he did, and there it was.

He also got a rejection email from NYU Steinhardt last Friday, also a week earlier than expected. He was so happy about Berklee he didn’t care. ;-)

has anyone other than the one posted acceptance heard back from McGill? I called today and they said that all decisions had been made and I should find out in a week or so. I’m hoping that didn’t mean “wait for the letter, you were rejected.”
