I got an invitation to Clemson's Bridge program, where I'd have all of the advantages of a Clemson freshman except I'd go to Tri County Technical College for one year and then transfer to Clemson. My other options are University of South Carolina and College of Charleston. I'd appreciate thoughts from anyone willing to give them

If you love Clemson more than CofC and USC, do the Bridge program. Everyone I know who’s done it has said it was worth it. Bridge students are a really tight community of people who love Clemson, and all the Bridge students I’ve met are awesome.

The downside to the Bridge program is that you don’t have the typical true freshman experience of Clemson students. Bridge does have its own community, as the previous poster mentioned. I have known students who were happy with Bridge and others who felt isolated from the Clemson campus. In the end, however, the latter were glad they did it and got into Clemson. It really comes down to how much you want to go to Clemson. All 3 are rather different schools. Which one do you think is the best fit for you?

Thank you guys, these responses were very helpful. I think I’ll do a tour of all three campuses and make a judgement afterwards.

Sounds like a good idea! What do you want to study? That may make a big difference in your choice as each school has different strengths.

My son went through the bridge program last year. He is a sophomore at Clemson this year. The bridge program is a great program. The housing is nice although it would be nice is they were housed closer to or actually on campus. It is a great program if your student wants to be a Clemson tiger more than anything else. We saved 20,000 also because we were out of state. It is a win- win. Don’t fool yourself they still have to work hard at tri county to be able to bridge over to Clemson .
