Should I attend CSULB or SFSU for fashion design?

I got accepted as a fashion design major for both schools, but I can’t decide if I should attend San Francisco State or Long Beach State.

For CSULB, it had always been my first choice since it’s a competitive CSU, has a good reputation, has a better campus, and I wanted to be away from home.

On the other hand, SFSU had always been my last choice since it’s only 20 minutes away from home. I’ve always felt that if I attended SFSU, then all the AP classes and work I’ve done to maintain my GPA would be going to waste since they pretty much accept anyone, and it’s where all the “average” students at my high school end up attending.

My dad, who’s the main source of income, recently passed away, so our only source of income now is by collecting rent from tenants at our house since my mom is a housewife and doesn’t work. My mom wants me to go to CSULB because she knows it’s where I want to attend, and she wants me to be more independent and less introverted. However, it’s more expensive, and I don’t want to leave her alone at home. If I attend SFSU, I would be saving a lot of money, and I’d have friends there.

So all in all, is it better for me to attend CSULB or SFSU? Also, I’m planning on starting my own clothing company, so which school has a better fashion design program?

I am really sorry to hear about your dad. That’s difficult at any age. I can only imagine how that’s affected you as you’ve navigated high school and the college ap process. .

I’d say LB -as long as you won’t go into debt. I say that not because it is a better program but, because it seems to be where you wants to go. You are more likely to be a successful student if you pick the campus and haven’t begrudgingly settled for a sense of obligation.
