Hello,
I am considering on attending Kalamazoo because their aid was the best of all the other schools I applied to. I would only have to pay 18k a year. However, I’ve always wanted to attend a big university, and I don’t know if choosing a small liberal arts college is a good decision. If anyone attends or has attended Kalamazoo, I have a couple questions…
-
How is the social life? Are there things to do on campus or the city?
-
Do they offer vegetarian options?
-
Are the classes very difficult? Do professors help a lot?
-
Do you think there are a lot of job options after graduating? Especially in business.
-
What are some things you like about Kalamazoo and what are some things you don’t like?
Just a parent, and not even of a K kid (my kid looked very closely at Kzoo, but wound up elsewhere) – Kzoo could be ideal for you in that Western Michigan University is right next to Kzoo, and there is the opportunity for collaboration between the campuses. I think I remember hearing that K kids can belong to greek life at Western Michigan and they can take courses which are not available at Kzoo etc.
Having eaten in the dining hall, there are plenty of vegetarian offerings. Faculty are very warm, engaged, active. What my kid liked about Kzoo was the range of types of students there – from Vineyard Vines to blue hair. There is something for everyone, and it is a collaborative community. My kid also loved the lack of gen ed/distribution requirements, and came to appreciate the trimester system with the idea of taking 3 classes at a time, instead of 4, it just felt more manageable.
Good luck with your decision, and perhaps you can get to campus to visit to get more direct answers to your questions.
Thank you very much @Midwestmomofboys
