Hello! I really wish to get into the purdue college of science, but my parents keep saying that I need to improve my act score to get in. From what I’ve researched getting into purdue doesn’t seem that hard, but they are annoying me so much about taking the act again.
GPA: 3.85
ACT: 32
Extracurriculars: Football (2 varsity letters), NHS
Btw, I’m planning on majoring in biochemistry or biology.
The average ACT is between a 27/28.
The acceptance rate is over 50% so the selectively is in your favor. Don’t let anyone on CC scare you with different numbers. Colleges don’t see huge changes in the numbers over one year.
You just might want to check with the university if there anything specific for your major.
Otherwise don’t stress just be happy with your success.
Are you in-state? Per the latest Common Data Set the acceptance rate for males is just over 50%, your gpa is slightly above average and your ACT is already just over the 75% mark so your numbers look good, but not superb. The problem is that it’s a state school so oos applicants will have to try harder than the average. Is your HS coursework adequately “rigorous”? That is their 3rd “very important” consideration from their CDS.
Update: I got into Purdue on Early Action
