I'm a sophomore in HS and I scored a 20/32 on the PLAN (pre-act). But there was a considerable amount of geometry on the test that i had not completed in class yet before I took the test. Should I worry about my real ACT/SAT score looking this ugly?

I will do a ton of studying before the real ones (books, a class, practice tests, etc.)

If you prepare the right way, there is nothing to worry about.

What is “the right way”?

What is “the right way”?

Simply studying. If you do what you said you would, then you should be alright

Preparing the right way means:

-First and foremost, making sure you apply yourself in class, as the ACT in a Content Based class
-Taking Practice Tests under realistic test-like conditions
-Practice utilizing good test taking skills on your exams so you can apply them to the actual test
-Making a plan as to how you will prepare and sticking to it
-Practice
-Be confident in yourself.

All those things mentioned above are essentially just different shades of hard work and dedication.

I don’t have a lot of experience with the PLAN, but concerning the PSAT, I feel that sophomores really shouldn’t worry about it. They don’t technically count for anything, and aren’t necessarily accurate representations of what you get on the SAT/ACT. After all, studying+being an year older will make a fairly sizable difference.

No. You should never be BUMMED by a test score. Improve if you feel bummed, because feeling bummed will get no where in life.
But I guess you want to improve since you are on CC. Just reading some of these posts make you smarter instantly ;)

My PSAT were absolute garbage as well. I’m going to begin starting Monday. Here’s the schedule I’m following. You should follow it too if you have the Blue book.
