Should I be concerned?

Sooooooo my app is complete (obviously), but in my haste with very little time left in my college meeting I uploaded my essays, ignoring the directions that state that applicants must write their names and socials on the essays.
Problem?
My counselor said, if i wanted, i could send paper essays (which of course would be annoying for them) with the updates.

Im going to call tomorrow but i could use some cc opinions.

There were directions about this…?

This information may be TOTALLY wrong. However, I seem to recall when I was looking over my Daughters Common App, when you choose to “Preview Print” all of her essays (both common and the supplimentals) printed off at the end, and on the bottom of the page was her name and social.

Log into your common app, and see if this is how it will look. Pretty sure that you have nothing to worry about, but check non-the-less.

^Birth date and SSN don’t show up on the sheets.

you should be very concerned. i have heard, from reputable sources (a.k.a. i know people in the admissions office), that not strictly following the university’s application instructions will result in a highly diminished chance of admission. as a current hopkins student who has worked with admissions representatives i can tell you that it is likely that students who do not follow university policy and regulations regarding application procedure will likely not be considered for admission. the committee is looking for astute students who are able to follow the instructions flawlessly and your error will probably result in a rejection. best of luck though!

Call and see if there are essays in your file. If there aren’t fax or mail them in, and you’ll be fine

I forgot these as well; I called the admissions dept. and they gave me an email to send my SSN and birth date to. Haven’t heard back yet though.

Don’t be concerned at all. If you print preview your supplement and common application, you will see that your name and application # prints at the bottom of all essays…that should be enough to match things up…not a big deal at all.

^Just called them, they said it was fine if we didn’t put our SSN # and birthdate on the essays…they can track us through Common App ID and Name

I can smell a ■■■■■ from miles away. Stop causing undue stress.

I called them the other day and they said it was fine. They told me that they’ll contact people if they need “more information,” but I got the impression that the name/SSN policy was written without the automatic name printing function of the Common App in mind.

@xckyle93, c’mon now it wasn’t “from miles away,” don’t flatter yourself :)
