Should I be concerned ?

Admission statuses have been posted constantly since feb 1st. My friends got accepted the first day it opened. (Which is about 4-5 people )

I sent my application in a week before the deadline , could that be why I have not been notified yet ?

I know notifications can sometimes come a lot later than expected , but should I be worried? Should I call them ?

And yes, I know they got my application because I got an email for them and have a myucr account. >_< I check my mail, email, and myucr account constantly.

Thanks!

Not necesarily. Admissions continue coming out until March 31. I’m sure you’ll be fine. All of my friends got in the 1st day too, Feb 1; particularly 12:00am. My boyfriend’s younger brother got in yesterday. He was a great candidate from a great high school. He also lives in Corona, CA which is 15 mi from UCR. He thought he’d be accepted on day 1, but he wasnt. He is ranked #2 in his class but since he got in 1 month later, I wouldn’t worry too much. I am sure your grades and stats are amazing and you will get in. You have until the end of the month. Good Luck.

Phew.

Ok thanks for such a fast and informative reply ! I feel much better. :3

No problem(:

If you don’t mind me asking, could you tell me your UC GPA and whether your in-state or out of state?
Don’t have to answer if you don’t want to.

I don’t mind~

I’m not sure what my UC GPA is (I forgot how to find out) but my weighted GPA at the moment is a 3.68, it could of gone up since I had straight A’s last semester… unless the weighted GPA IS the UC GPA. x3

I’m in the top 13% of my school as well~ And in the National Honors Society.

I live in-state, about an hour from UCR. I live in Lake elsinore. =3 I submitted my application on Nov 20th I think? And the deadline was Nov 30th? I’m not 100% sure on the dates.

I DID score a 1420 on my SAT, which is low. D:

Also! Do you know how the UC scholarship works? Where if your family makes a certain amount of money, your tuition gets paid fully? I don’t know if I wait until my acceptances/rejections or if I apply before/at any time up until a deadline?

Everything is good about your application accept maybe your SAT? I read somewhere that the don’t require it but I could be wrong. Also considering you are in state you should get in. But don’t worry too much. Just relax. According to some website I read, 89% of SoCal residents get in. I’m not sure if it’s true but it probably is. They accept almost every CA applicant.

According to Governor Brown, if your family makes less than 70,000 your tuition will be free. I don’t know if he’s right (mainy because I don’t like him) but 70,000 or less is the rumor. If you get accepted to UCR you can be offered a small scholarship. Other UC’s have scholarships too but these are merit based. The financial aid is need-based. So like I said before, if you make less than 70,000, financial aid will completely cover tuition.

Did you apply to any other UC’s?

I think, considering my grades and what not, my SAT isn’t a huge problem. It’s mainly the math that brought me down. I hope that’s true~

I don’t like him either, but on the UC admission site it has the Blue & Gold scholarship, and a UCR recruiter mentioned it. I lived with just my retired grandmother, and her income is less than 50k I believe. I chose Biology to be my Major as well. (Since I love science and wanna become a doctor/vet. x3)

I applied for my Fasfa the second day it was open, so hopefully that helps me get more money. (I heard the sooner you get your FASFA completed, the more money you get. But at the same time… if my application takes so long to be decided on… it probably won’t matter. D: ) So I REALLY hope I qualify for the scholarship. >_< UCR is my dream college~

Do you know if the scholarship works for 4 years of college? Or just your first?

I also applied to UCI~ UCI was a 2nd choice. I applied to UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara for fun (Using the fee waiver). I couldn’t afford applications for Fullerton or SDSU. Fullerton would of been my second choice otherwise.

I’m not sure what the Blue & Gold Scholarship, but you should look into. Providing Brown isn’t being stupid as usual, then I am sure your tuition will be provided by the school. But don’t take my word on it.
Scholarships usually apply for a full 4 years provided you meet the minium requirements.
It’s not true that you get more FAFSA if you apply earlier, but as long as you meet the deadline, your full need would almost be met (depending on the school).
There is also CalGrant to consider. Did you apply?
Also, have you heard anything from UCI yet? They started releasing yesterday.

I got an email from the CalGrant thing… but I went to the website and it’s down for 1 more week I think.

What is the difference between the FASFA and the CalGrant? I always get confused on that. D:

UCI mailed me last week saying FASFA info for me was sent to them, but I never applied… YET I got an email saying thanks for applying AND I have a UCInet account. @_@ So not sure if that is going to make my UCI decision slower or not.

Anndd now UCI won’t let me log in. It lets me log in, then says I need to re-authenticate or something, and I do it… nothing. D: I’ll try to see if I can fix it, otherwise I don’t know what UCI is trying to do to me. @_@

FAFSA is federal aid and can be used for any college/university/higher institution of learning.

CalGrant is only for Ca collegeS/universities by CA residents. You can get a couple thousand in aid from them.

Almost everyone I know is having problems with the UCI Portal. I’m not sure why.

FASFA also helps the college determine how much money I get from them right?

Odd. D: I Did manage to get in though, by googling ‘MyAdmissionsApplication@UCI’ and logging in that way. But no updates on my application yet.

Yupp Fafsa is just fine but you could try CalGrant too. Doesn’t hurt.

I know some people who got into UCI CHP (including myself), but very few people got admitted yesterday from my high school, which is sad considering it’s the ony IB school in this area.

CHP? =o Congratz!
What colleges did you apply to besides UCI?

That’s quite odd though… IB should be helping… or perhaps people from your school didn’t apply as fast as some other people?

Thanks(:
I applied to UCLA, UCLA, UCSD, basically every top private school and every top liberal arts college.
I really need the money haha and I don’t trust the UC’s to give me any.
Did you apply to any privates?

Nice. =3

Same here. D; But the FASFA,CalGrant, maybe 3k from my grandma, and a few scholarships are all I have besides the UC scholarship. >_<

I couldn’t afford to apply to any colleges but what my fee waiver gave me. Apparently taking the SAT got me CSU fee waivers too… but I don’t remember getting any. I only paid $70 for UCR because my fee waiver wouldn’t work for them for some reason, and since they were my dream school… of course I’d pay to apply lol. D: (I think paying to apply to colleges is one of the stupidest things ever though, and THEN paying again if you get accepted and choose that school as a way of saying you’ll go there for sure.)

I spent all summer up until november researching colleges. I ended up making a portfolio for myself on the colleges I liked best. x3 (Which was about 13, it has info such has tuition cost, housing costs, sat stats, etc.) I sadly… did not put that on my Application form! Would of been a great thing to put down. D:

Hopefully we’ll both get into our dream schools with 0 family contribution.
I got my financial package from Hofstra (idk why I even applied there lol) yesterday and they offered me 25,000 in aid for a school that costs 56,000. I would be expected to pay like 31,000. Uhhh Nooo thanks.

But goodluck(: I hope you get into UCR.

Ohjeez. Nothanks. D:

I love Redlands… then I saw the tuition (40-50k?) and was sad. D:

Thanks! Same to you. =3 Thanks again for your help~

Elouia I saw that you were having trouble with the uci portal thingy, what I do is login then google uci admissions then click on the mail center that’s on the left center thing then login again and it usually works

uci should get their stuff together, i think many students have the problem lol

Thank you! =3

And yes. D: They mailed me saying they got my FASFA info, but that I never applied for them HOWEVER, I have an account with them and an email saying “Thanks for applying” lol. D: Luckily I checked and everything seems to be fine now.

I know you wanted to know about the Blue & Gold, if you apply for any UC school you are automatically considered for this. It’s just scholarships from the school. I go to UCR and with your family income you should have no problem getting your tuition paid for; they paid all of my tuition and fees while I still had money left over which they just sent to me. So just accept all of the financial aid and try not to get any loans unless necessary.
