Should I be concerned?

I made a previous post about how I was pretty certain that I was going to be attending one of my safety schools for financial reasons. However, I still wanted to shadow a class before I officially decided. I attended a class in my major today. The class size was small. The professor was super nice. It seems like it would be a perfect fit for me.

There was only one issue. The class was easy. I mean like really easy. Like after her lecture, I finished the lab they were doing pretty easily, read the entire chapter in the textbook the professor gave me, and still had time to spare before class ended. I seemed to have a better knowledge of what was going on than the students and they had been in that class for weeks. None of them would participate. It was like the professor was talking to a bunch of rocks.

Should I be concerned? I mean I guess if the classes are that easy, I could get a really high GPA. And if nobody else participates I would really stand out to my professors, but still… It was just odd. The lecture was interesting, so I don’t think the content would bore me. It’s just…easy. I expected college to be more challenging. I guess it doesn’t matter because I really can’t afford to go anywhere else lol.

If this is the only affordable option that you have now, then your options are to make the best of it or take a gap year and try again. Do you have the grades and test scores that would land you one of the automatic full tuition scholarships listed in the thread on that topic in the Financial Aid Forum? One of those might be better options for you.v

Would the class that you sat in on be required for you, or would you be able to skip over it and go directly to a more advanced course? Would you be able to cover the material at a faster pace as an independent study? When you chat with the instructor again, ask about the class. This might be normal for students at this college, or it might be the year that the students were dull and refused to participate.
