When I walk by some of my 'friends' in the hallway, I am always the first to say hi. If I don't say hi, they usually don't say hi either. but when i say hi, they usually respond back.

I am trying to figure out why I am always the one who has to initiate conversation with them. They are not particularly shy in any case...

Should I take this as a cue that they don't really have interest in talking to me? Or should I keep on being friendly with them?

Making a million threads is bad if they are all on the same topic and all about you. You may make lots of threads if they are on random topics like Secret to a girls heart and sugar+tap water= grape drank!

Btw, are you trying to ■■■■■? It sort of looks like that. I’m going to assume you aren’t ■■■■■■■■

Thread #1: Your classmates are ********. Ignore them.

Thread #2: Why worry about the ‘cool’ kids? You probably have trouble talking to them because you don’t have much in common. Either find a common interest, or don’t worry about being their friends.

Thread #3: You invite them to something. They might get the idea then.

Thread #4: You are worrying about saying about why you say ‘Hi’ first? Some people just hate pointless small-talk

just do the classic bro nod or the raise your eyebrows gesture. These always work. If you are a girl, we can call it the gal nod… lol.

They might find it awkward if they say hi and you don’t.

If you guys are making eye contact and they ignore you, then they probably aren’t interested in talking at the moment. Or maybe that’s just their personality.
