When i took Chem hon it was such a struggle ! i would get Bs on almost every test with very very few A's .. and some of the concepts like thermochem and kinda sorta titration i didnt get at all .. but chemical bonding i did not get for the life of me Got a D on the test ! .. and overall if i had to grade myself on how much i understand of chem hon i would give myself like a C+ or a low B .. should i take Ap chem ? .. the teacher for chem hon and Ap chem is the same and i know she was a BEYOND PHENOMINAL teacher chem just didnt click lol

If you think you’re not going to do well in the class, don’t jeopardize your GPA. However, if this teacher is so great and you and the teacher have time, you can take the class and ask the teacher for extra help.

If you’re having second thoughts on this, I wouldn’t take it. The AP Chemistry curriculum goes through the Honors Chemistry curriculum in 5 days, so it’s best to have basic chemistry knowledge down packed. If you want to take it, go ahead, but just prepared to work VERY hard and commit to studying and mastery the material. If you had trouble in Hon. Chemistry, then AP will be very challenging. Do what you feel is right for you. :)

Yeah so with those 2 comments im pretty sure ill pass with Ap chem and take some other class lol … the teacher would be alot of help but i dont wanna like hog her all for myself.

I disagree with the above comments. Some people in my AP Chem class this year had struggled last year. Most of my friends had had B averages, and somehow a few kids who had like low C’s got into the class, too. Now, they stressed out about the class just as much as the people who had A’s in honors chem, but I don’t know if it was any more so. Then again, in my school, we have different teachers for honors and AP. But I wouldn’t rule out AP because it is definitely doable, especially with a good teacher (and if he/she really is good, you won’t be hogging him/her because, well at least in my class, people went after school for help every day). Then again, it’s definitely a time commitment and you have to be ready for work. But I just wanted to give an opposing viewpoint.

Honestly, the AP Exam itself is a lot easier than the class. I got a 5, but I struggled to get an A in the 2nd semester.

AP Chemistry is a complete joke. I got A’s for both semester and a 5 as a sophomore with no challenge at all. 2012 exam was exceptionally easy at least.
