Should I be this worried

As move in day approaches I find myself making a list of all the things i want to do in new york, but i can't help but worry about how safe new york is from future terroristic attacks. I love new york and i can't wait to be there but i dont want to think about another 9-11 while im there. I'll be living in at cliff street ( im transfering to nyu as a soph) I am so happy about going to new york but it's the reality of today... am i jus thinking about it too much or does anyone one have any advice to help me not think about that.

Terrorist attacks will happen whether or not you're there. Help the NYC Police and MTA by reporting suspicious activity, suspicious bags, etc. That's all you can do.

In the event of a terrorist attack, if I'm not dead or incapacitated, you can be sure I'll be doing whatever I safely can to assist others. That's what a true New Yorker does. :)

Don't be afraid. What's coming will come. All you can do is decide how to respond. You can cower in fear, or you can act with courage. It's up to you.

luckycharms.... my aunt runs grand central terminal and deals with this sort of thing several times a year and 9/11 really shook her. However, she goes on day by day living her life to the fullest. That's all you can expect. There is always chance of tragedy everywhere, anytime... not just new york. So my advice is to not worry because if you do... you're going to be a wreck and not enjoy yourself... and forget worrying about terrorists... you'll probably have to worry about yourself for other reasons. So be happy and seize the day and the world of new york. :-)

thanks i really am thankful for your consideration about this, i just wonder if other people think about it too. any comments would still be helpful too

i think about that, and the avian flu...

If you live your life in fear, you'll never be able to enjoy yourself. Obviously, there are no guarantees. Something could happen. But in the unforgettable words of Peter Pan, think happy thoughts! You're coming to New York, to NYU, the number one dream school in the country, the greatest city in the world. Enjoy it, and try not to worry.
