Should I be worried about my chances? Lots of competetion here.

I've been freaking out about admissions since I've come to CC forums and seeing all of the overachievers ask about admissions only to get advice on how to boost their already seemingly stellar chances.

I don't have a terrible record in high school, but it hardly matches any of the records I've seen on the chances thread.

Do the posters on this forum really represent the bulk of applicants to top schools?

I'm really worried that I may end up going to States University.

Heres a recap of my stats...I didnt get any real responses last time.

Haverford (ED)
Middlebury
Hamilton
Wesleyan
Colgate
Vassar
Rice

Safeties:
RPI
SUNY Stony Brook, Binghamton, Geneseo

My friends and my counselor believe that my chances are in the target zone, but after coming to these message boards, I've been scared cold by "chances" posts by applicants with near perfect scores and endless ECs only to have someone respond with "you have a chance" instead of "you have a great chance".

Anyways heres my academic record:

-3.5-3.6 (Maybe, I have a simple average of 92...not sure what that is in terms of GPA)
-720M 660CR 700W
-Bio 700 Chem 750 US Hist. 630(Big mistake....this was harder than the AP IMO)
-4 APs, 3 Honors

ECs:

-School Orchestra
-NYYS Chamber Music Program (I play violin in a striong quartet)
-NYYSMA Exam (During mIddle school though) Level 5 - 98 Level 6 - 97
-Key Club (Through this club I've done lots of community service such as soup kitchens, park clean ups and walks such as AIDS walk or March of Dimes)
-Volunteer Lab Assistant (Summer job...counts as both work experience and volunteer I guess. I worked in a lab studying possible vaccines for malaria in rodent models).
-Treasurer for Badminton Club

Other Stuff:

Asian Male (Born in China, Citizen of China and Perm.Res. of US)
Both parents are reserachers (Both went to college in China)
No Religion (Atheist...but no one likes an atheist right?)
Middle Class Income
Public School (Bronx Science, does not rank, relatively competetive in NY city, but cant be compared with Stuyvesant...they're insane)

Buzz,

People on CC cry when they get the A instead of the A+, or a 2390 instead of 2400. They don't represent a balanced representation of the people who apply to college. I pretty sure you won't have to go to (GASP!) State U, not that there's anything wrong with that. ECs are kinds weak considering you're applying to LACs which place a lot of emphasis on them. Regardless, I think that you're in at 5 of the 7 toughies, with Middlebury and Rice being reaches (though I think you have a decent chance at both).

Thnx for the reponse...I guess this is how I feel about my chances as well. I regret not doing more during my time in high school...

I did send a recording of my playing (hopefully this will boost my EC quality, although it won't boost EC quantity. lots of asians play instruments...hopefully I stood out)

What is your aprox rank? Even though the school doesn't rank colleges know where you are.

Your sats are low for many of your schools so hopefully you're at least top 15-20% (5-10 if it weren't bx Science).

I'd say top 20%...but I can never be sure since I don't know most of my peers' averages.

Hamilton will only look at top 3 exam scores (from satIIs, sat and APs).
This means they look at my chem&bio satII and my math SATi (or one of my APs...not sure if a 4 on an ap is better than a 720 on an SAT section). I'm hoping to lean on this...also, interviews are weighed quite heavily at hamilton unlike most other schools and I'm quite a calm and honest speaker.
