I applied on the very first day, October 1st, as soon as the application portal opened up, for Electrical Engineering. I received my broncodirect information on October 19th and after that, not a WORD has come out from Cal Poly Pomona regarding my application. Should I assume that I’ve been rejected already? I mean, it’s been a little over 5 months since I applied and there has literally been no progress at all. My application status has not budged from “application received”. I’ve heard nothing about the apparent supplemental application either. This entire process has been extremely discouraging.

Thanks, CC users. As usual, any input I receive will be greatly acknowledged.

Did they request for your transcript? And i believe electrical engineering is an impacted major like mostly all other engineering majors, which means that your application has been referred to that department so that they can decide who gets in. And when I applied straight out of high school I didn’t get a response until like April so it’s normal for them to take a while to send out acceptance/rejection letters

Luccky, they accept a TON of people for computer science. The Applied Math/Stats program here also started booming I was told the admission cycle I applied in. They obviously want more math and computer science students.

I do not know how your decision is made as a freshman. It is probably a weighted ranking based on your two scores and maybe something that accounts for service area. The ranking for transfer students was done by GPA and admission was done by department. The lower you are, the longer you wait. I was admitted provisonally and that was taken off once I completed my first semester. Trust me, they’re pretty slow issuing acceptances and updating things of this nature. I didn’t have any issues with them receiving any documents/transcripts, though.

When they get to you, they get to you. Trust me, I was going crazy over the wait too because this was my second choice university that I wanted to attend (first choice I was accepted but was OOS & too expesive) if I couldn’t have my first. You’ll be pretty joyful when you see progress in your application.

Just wait it out and stop assuming the worst. I applied on the very last day and got my acceptance in early April.

haha hey im in the same boat as you guys i havent gotten anything yet either my bronco direct thing says application recieved and my other friends have gotten admissions. i went in as undecided major sooo i would think that i would get my rejection or admission before others

I was accepted into CPP early March for Mechanical Engineering, but I waited longer than a good handful of people I knew who’d gotten in a while before I heard anything. My friends who are freshmen right now told me that most of them didn’t hear back until pretty much right before they had to submit their ECD/SIR, so I think you’re good! I do have one friend that was wait listed mid-April, though, so that could also be taken into consideration.
