It's almost a week since the early deadline, but my teacher evaluation for math/science still isn't in.

My school uses Naviance, and it says that my math teacher completed my rec letter over a week ago.

I talked to my teacher a couple days ago, and he says that his Naviance account shows the letter as received, but that he'll resend it just to be sure. He also submitted my rec for a common app college, and that rec shows up as received.

However, my MyMIT account still shows the Evaluation as not processed? In fact, the ApplyWithUs website that MIT uses shows the Evaluation only as "started." My Secondary School Report and Transcript and Evaluation B have already been processed by MIT, and they were all submitted through Naviance after my math teacher rec.

Should I be worried?

I don’t quite get the point about the 5 business days processing thing. If you tell applicant that it takes 5 business days to process stuff sent from Naviance, it’s reasonable to expect people to be a little worried about why their materials do not show up on MyMIT. But at the same time, MIT keeps telling folks everything is fine, don’t worry if your stuff is not showing up MyMIT. I just don’t get it.

No, you shouldn’t be worried. In the past, it’s typically taken the admissions office two to three weeks to process all pieces of all applications (although hopefully it will be faster this year with the switch to online LORs). They’ll contact you if there’s a piece of your application missing when they’re done processing everything, and you’ll have the opportunity to re-submit anything that’s missing. It’s overwhelmingly likely that your letter is at MIT safe and sound, it just hasn’t been processed yet.

@Chicago1988, I’m not sure why the five business days guidance is offered, either. If I were in charge, I’d lowball a little, for sure, but I’m sure they just didn’t know how long it would take to process everything when all the letters went to Naviance/ApplyWithUs – in past years, it’s only been a small percentage of letters that have been submitted electronically.
