Right now i've been in a intro to accounting class for some time now. I enjoy it so much and i'm learning a lot. However there're people here who hate it so bad calling it boring, stupid, and uncomprehending. So i thought to myself, if the majority of people are feeling this way now will i be feeling this way once i'm in intermediate accounting? this scares me! what do i start to learn in intermediate? do i really have to worry or is it building blocks of what i'm learning in intro?

All majors get harder eventually. I think you’d be hard pressed to find someone who enjoys every class in their major. If you marginally enjoy it, then keep going knowing that the actual work you will be doing isn’t gonna be in a classroom setting. It’ll be more “real.” Thats the way I try to think of it

Subjects aren’t for everyone. Don’t quit something you enjoy solely because others don’t enjoy the subject.

For one thing, I just took financial accounting (intro I) and am now in managerial accounting (intro II), and I have to say that the first 4/5th’s of intro I were pretty damn boring compared to intro II so far. For me journalizing, posting, and making statements is no fun. The interesting stuff to me has to do with financial analysis and stocks/bonds/corporate mergers type stuff. I have to think that it’s completely normal for most students to not enjoy journalizing transactions and then posting them to the ledger.

Also, I happen to love statistics and most other people hate it. I am also one of the few in my accounting class who actually enjoys learning about business concepts. If anything it just means you’re going to be better off than those who are only interested in things like social science, natural science, and humanities.

thanks guys
