I still haven't received a letter/email/anything about my acceptance/rejection.

I got a 29 on my ACT, a 4.1 UC GPA, a 5 on AP chem, a 4 on AP Bio, and a 3 on AP US History. I've been in boy scouts since I was 6 and have been my troops SPL several times. I am also an Eagle Scout. I've been rejected from LA and SD but I am really hoping for Irvine since my major is planning to be Computer Science or Computer Game Design (Haven't decided yet) and I know that Irvine is right in the middle of the industry.'

haha lawl me too got rejected from LA earlier this month and SD yesterday AND from Tulane (couldnt resist free app). i be shocked since you have 4.1 gpa.

I got rejected from LA and SD as well, but it’s probably because of my low GPA (3.68 UC GPA). I sort of made up with my 2110 SAT scores I think. Don’t worry though, I just got my acceptance for Business Administration a week ago. They don’t look at your AP tests for admissions, only for credit after you get in. You’ll probably be fine since your GPA is solid.

first of all i didn’t know UCI had game design…learn something new every day lol

I don’t know too much about UCI except you seem competitive enough for it so good luck :D

“Range of Test Scores and GPA
Students admitted to UCI have a demonstrated record of academic and personal achievement. While UCI does not utilize a formula in selecting students, students admitted as freshmen for the fall 2010 term share the following characteristics:
An average high school grade point average (GPA) of 3.99. Note: UCI uses a maximum number of 8 honors grade points in determining the GPA.
The middle 50% of the admitted freshman class has an SAT Critical Reading score between 540 and 670, an SAT Math score between 590 and 710, and an SAT Writing score of 560 and 690.
The average number of total “a-g” courses (full-year) taken was 24.
97.5% of all freshman admitted students completed at least four years of mathematics.
A typical student offered admission completed six (full-year) academic courses in the senior year.”

thats what i found on the uci website
[Profile of Admitted Applicants](http://www.admissions.uci.edu/admissions/profile_admitted.html)

Worrying isn’t good for you; but at the same time, you have to make sure you have a back-up plan incase irvine does not accept you.

While you may have a chance, there’s also the chance that they reject you so keep that in mind.

I stopped worrying I got in
Now I just have to choose between Irvine and Cal Poly SLO. Both are good, but as much as I want Irvine people are telling me to go to SLO.

mm don’t go to a college just because people say to go there. choose the one you like the best…otherwise you might regret it

I’ll check SLO out, but from everything I’ve seen before I can actually go there, Irvine seems perfect and I actually like it better then my previous first choice of UCSD.

they’re tough to compare. I would say that UCI is overall the better school, has a better campus, and is located right in the middle of an area filled with software engineering, engineering, and consulting firms, so finding an internship is not difficult at all.

On the other hand, i really like SLO. It’s a lot more rural, but it’s really a fun school. I’d say you’re more likely to get the traditional college experience if go there.

disclaimer: I am a uci student, so that might affect my opinion. I have spent quite a bit of time at SLO, though.

you liked UCI more than UCSD!? reallly? well Irvine is a nice place in itself, not so different than where I live now. that’s the only downside to going there for me. kinda monotonous?

Well I got rejected from SD so I guess its an automated coping mechanism, but Irvine is making really excited with what it has to offer. The newish Computer Science lab is amazing and Irvine is pretty good at CS. SD the campus was kinda spread out while Irvine’s is really cool and well planned out.

I think because SLO is rural I don’t really want to go. I’m still waiting on Davis, but if I got in then I’d rather go there for a rural experience because neither have strong CS programs as comparative to Irvine. Also a major major bonus to Irvine is how close it is to some major gaming companies. Getting an internship at Blizzard would be a dream come true.

Yeah, I’ve been getting excited about Irvine too! No good to dwell on what could have been at SD. I didn’t apply to SB or Davis and got rejected from SLO so Irvine’s all I got, which is perfectly fine with me.

I can understand you guys getting upset about being rejected by UCLA, but honestly I wouldn’t get too upset about UCSD.

I had the choice between SD and UCI a couple years back, and I haven’t regretting choosing Irvine for a second. The campus is so much better, and it seems like Irvine is a lot more fun (which is weird, because Irvine isn’t that fun compared to places like SB or SLO).

So if I were more interested in like having a LAN party in my dorm as compared to playing frisbee or hanging in the park, Irvine would be a good choice for me?

there are 22,000+ undergrads at UCI. You can easily find tons of people who would be into either.

“So if I were more interested in like having a LAN party in my dorm as compared to playing frisbee or hanging in the park, Irvine would be a good choice for me?”

I loled, but that’s actually a fantastic question. I’m still waiting on an acceptance/rejection from UCI, but it sounds like a great school if you can actually find a steady group of people to have both experiences mentioned above with.

And for those who were rejected by UCSD, be happy you were. For my entire life I have lived in the gated community directly across the street from SD, and my goodness it is as boring as a place comes. There is hardly ever any activity (both weekdays and weekends) and the buildings/campus are somewhat depressing. The only plus side is the beach being a minute away, of course.

Sweet, I can’t wait to go next year. I hope I get to be at Middle Earth, I hear that’s the one I want for CS since its like a minute away. My sister went to UCSD and it was probably part of my main wanting to go there, but I am really happy I didn’t get in right now, all of my friends who got in are stressing about how they got stuck in ERC. I’m not very much into the party scene and just want people to hang out with so I think Irvine is gonna be great.
