Should I be worried?

Hey, so my school offers a variety of AP classes. All the AP sciences, histories, languages, etc. My councilor told me that we are only allowed to take a maximum of two AP classes a year. Of course, I’ve taken the maximum AP classes with the rest honors. However, I’ve heard that some of my classmates have somehow signed up for three next year(rising senior)! I don’t want colleges to look at my transcript and think that I purposely haven’t challenged myself. I’m afraid that taking two APs a year out of a whole bunch will look awful. Should I be afraid?

Have you asked your counselor how it is possible for other seniors to take more than 2 AP classes, while you can’t? I’m not sure what type of colleges you’re looking into applying to (this may affect the importance of course rigor). As long as you’re getting excellent grades in your all of classes, then you should be okay. There are some high schools that don’t offer AP classes, so college admissions can’t hold it against you if you can’t take APs. The main thing to focus on is taking the hardest courses available at you’re school. If you’re only able to take 2 APs a year, and you are, then I don’t think you’ll have anything to worry about. However, I would ask your counselor if you can take 3 (if other people are able to).
