Should I bother appealing my decision?

Unfortunately, I was straight up denied to UCSB today, and am debating whether to appeal or not considering this is perhaps my top school. It'd be great if I could get some advice. Here are the stats I submitted:

Major: Chemical Engineering
UC GPA: 3.73
ACT: 34 composite (35E, 34M, 33R, 34S, 31W)
8 semesters of APs, 3 semesters of Honors
4's on three AP tests (Environmental Science, Statistics, and Chemistry)
Decent amount of ECs including work experience in a related field
Decent essays

My grades really picked up at the end of Junior year, and my first semester senior year grades/class list is really good in my opinion. I got A's in English, Robotics, AP Government, and AP Calculus, and a B in AP Physics.

Is it worth trying to appeal even though I was flat out denied for a tough major? I really want to go to UCSB since my only other options are backup schools that I really don't have an interest in...

If you have no new information, there is no point to appealing, I’ve heard. They’ve seen your same app already and rejected it.

bodangles - This isn’t what I was planning on writing in the appeal letter. I’m more concerned with whether or not there’s even a possibility of getting the decision overturned with these stats as a baseline. I have other things I intend on writing in the letter, but what I’m asking is if my stats are too low in the first place to even be considered?

Chemical Engineering at UCSB is one of the toughest majors to get into. Even people with perfect grades are denied. If UCSB is your first choice and chemE is the major you really want to get into, definitely appeal. What was your alternate major when you applied?
