Just another person here looking to figure out her chances. I'm wondering if I should bother applying to Yale, and if it would be better for me to apply EA or RD (I'm currently planning on going EA). I've got reasonable test scores, and while my GPA isn't fantastic, I've really thrown myself into Spanish (but I'm not sure how to express this in my application?).

White female attending a public high school in the Philly suburb region. The school's a National Blue Ribbon School, but I'm pretty sure that doesn't mean much.

GPA: about 3.83
Class rank: Unknown of 500 to 600; probably near, if not in, top 10%- at least close enough that I'll be in top 10% by graduation, although that doesn't help me now.
SAT I: 1420 (V750, M670), 1600
SAT II: MIIC 740 (EEK), Writing 750 (EEK again), Spanish 790
Other tests: PSAT 235 (V78, M77, W80), AP US Hist 4, AP Euro 4, AP Calc AB 4, AP Stat 4

AP classes taken: US History, European History, Calculus AB, Statistics
AP classes being taken/will be taken: Comparative Government & Politics, Macroeconomics, Spanish, Environmental Science, Calculus BC
*All other classes have been honors classes except tenth grade Bio (how foolish of me!). While this isn't even close to every AP course the school offers, none are offered in ninth grade, one is offered in tenth (and I took it), and as far as I know I took in eleventh and am taking in 12th the most AP courses of anyone at the school.

Won the award for excellence in Spanish at the end of middle school (9th grade). Won certificate of merit for Superior Achievement in the Pennsylvania Math League contest. Have won consecutive silver medals (Spanish III, Spanish IV) in the county's Oral Proficiency Contest. National Spanish Honors Society. CYLC. Currently a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist. Will be AP Scholar with Honor (correct me if I'm wrong?).

I was in the school band (9, 10) and made school's select Wind Ensemble (9). I've played soccer since I was four, but never for school. I work for the school's literary and art magazine (11, 12); there are no officers in this club. Spanish Club (10, 11, 12); secretary in 11th, president in 12th. I volunteer for a presidential campaign (won't mention which on this board). I'm very into photography, taking and developing pictures (should I include this as an EC?). I was a math tutor (9), and I took private Russian lessons (11) and continue to study Russian on my own.

I'm employed by a local community college to teach Spanish to second and third graders (11, 12). I've also worked for my father's home business for as long as I can remember, although I've only done real work for it for the past two to three years.
