Should I bother applying for Questbridge?

I got a mailing from Questbridge's College Match program today and am unsure whether I should apply. Do I have a good chance?

Some stats:

--Female
--Asian American
--Single parent family
--Not first gen
--Last year's post-tax income was ~45,000. This year will be slightly more. (Is pre-tax or post-tax income the relevant one?)
--SAT scores 2300+, GPA 3.9+

I only found out about this recently, so I'd have to rush my recs and essays if I chose to apply. Also, for the recs, could I re-use them for applications to non-Questbridge affiliated colleges, or would I have to ask for two sets of recs?

I skimmed their website but don't know very much about this process so any advice would be dearly appreciated :)

There’s a folder/forum for Questbridge in the financial aid forums.

I don’t remember all the details but my take-away from a few years back: if you can do it (meaning, for example, that your required testing is done on time), do it.

My D found out very late about Questbridge. She rushed to apply. She was not accepted by Questbridge for their match program, but it made her in a much better position for other applications and also exposed her to schools she might not have otherwise considered.

The school she is now attending was a school she had listed on Questbridge. She has received invitations at school to attend events for Questbridge students. Even though she didn’t get in through the Questbridge program, I’m thinking perhaps for that particular school, even though she didn’t get matched through Questbridge, perhaps the Questbridge designation on her application record could have helped her? No way of knowing, however.

I sort of got the feeling that the “worse” your story, the better your chances for Questbridge. Like you, we’re not first gen but our income qualified us.

Since it doesn’t “cost” anything except your time, it may be worth the effort. As I said, it made my D much more focused on college applications earlier than most of her classmates. I think she used one rec the same and changed one rec for her regular apps (from the teacher who didn’t think she’d get in anywhere). She never saw her references.
