"Should I bother applying?" THE ANSWER IS YES

I keep reading posts on various schools' forums on here the question "should I even bother applying?" People seem to have differing reasons: they can't afford the school without loads of financial aid, they had an interview that didn't go their way, or they just don't think they have what it takes to get through the admissions process.

Whatever your reason, there's no reason to skip out on the application process, if you would still LOVE to go to that school. I'm not saying go out and apply to loads of reach schools, but seriously, if a school accepts you, they have some interest in having you attend their school. You never know what kind of financial aid you will get until you apply to a school and get a financial aid package from them. You never know what the interviewer will think of how your interview went (unless they straight up tell you). You never really know what a school is going to do in the admissions process.

Live for the moment. Apply to the schools you love.

Unless I'm the only one who feels this way?

Its a lot of work. The benefits are great, but I will probably end up having to write literally, 4-5 essays this thanksgiving break, to apply for the school scholarships and honors programs, which I don't even have that good a chance at since my ECs suck.

I always figure that if a person has to ask anonymous strangers about whether they should apply to a college or a scholarship program, they probably shouldn't bother applying because they don't seem to believe in themselves enough to put forth a winning effort.

That's a good point Northstarmom.

All the same, I feel like if people love these schools as much as they say they do, they should be willing to put forth the effort and at least try; admissions offices can be unpredictable.
