So what do you guys think? Should I even apply or is it too big of a reach? I'll chance you all back right away. Thank you!

I don’t think it’ll be too far of an reach although your gpa is bit lacking
why not? you will never know if you don’t apply!

You’re an IB student in a top high school. That was not easy to get 6 As and 1 B in your first semester of senior year at all (if that’s what you meant instead of your first year in high school). HL Psych, HL History of the Americas (not exactly U.S. History ha!), HL English–I think you’ll love Emory’s humanities offerings; Emory’s very good in psychology, too. I did HL Biology, HL History (History of the Americas in 11th grade, Contemporary History in 12th grade), HL English Literature. Loved HL Biology and liked HL History a lot. For CAS, I did Taekwondo & Aggressive Inline Skating (jumping around in rollerblades and going down and jumping up steep ramps, doing 180s, 360s, falling and landing countless times, in a skate park; I didn’t grind) for Action, volunteered at an assisted living facility & library for Service, and played in USCF-rated (United States Chess Federation) tournaments for Creativity. The chess tournaments I played in usually lasted for 2-3 days (4 to 6 rounds, about 4 hours per game, with 2 hour time controls for both sides; I played in the Class A section so most of my games went over three hours anyway–good for filling up the hours and have some fun at the same time), so it was easy for me to complete C (I was kind of lucky; a lotof my other colleagues had trouble fulfilling C). What did you do for CAS?

Do it. Apply. Emory really likes debate students, from what I hear. And your ECs are good. It’ll be a little difficult to get in because of your GPA, but there are some real chances for you in my opinion.

That’s awesome and great to hear! I love hearing from former and fellow IB students and yeah first semester is what I meant.
Anyways for my CAS though I’ve split it between captaining the volleyball team, mentoring and tutoring elementary/middle school students, and then starting my Soccer Without Borders club at my school and becoming an ambassador with the actual foundation. Anyways I’m pretty set on applying now and really glad that IB is pretty much over it was well worth it. Thanks!
