Okay...so Georgetown is like my dreamm school!
The only problem is I have no idea if I'm being completely unrealistic...here's some info on me:

-Taken hard classes (AP, honors etc.) but honestly everyone applying to Georgetown takes the hardest classes
Class Rank: Top 8% (32/424) Is that good enough?

EC's....

worked for a congressional campaign
Tennis
Cross Country
CYO
Lector at Church
Piano for 9 years (lessons, recitals)
Science National Honor Society
National Honor Society
Relay for Life (captain)
School Newspaper (editor)
Started tennis lessons for special needs youth
Blood Drive
Our school has their own TV show and I write segments for it
Hospital Volunteer

Another thing...I'm not a URM (more like an ORM) so will that hurt me a lot??
Please repond and be realistic (I won't take anything personal)
I want to attend their school of NHS..if that makes a difference
Please responddd!!

well...i can't resist giving advice to a fellow CT person. Do you have strong test scores? Your class rank might hurt you a bit but it still makes the hallowed cutoff (top 10%) and might be excused if your high school is particularly competitive. You have a lot of EC's and it's cool that you worked on a congressional campaign. Plus, Gtown's NHS might be slightly easier to get into. Since you have the opportunity to write three essays on the app, definitely use that to your advantage by showcasing your passions and personality. Other than that, it's a real crapshoot = ). Best of luck!

Well...I haven't taken the SAT's yet because I'm only mid way through my junior year but I really want to break 1400 (who doesn't). I was thinking my rank could hurt me too but I really want to wait and see my standarized test scores. I'm think the SAT II's can affect my chances as well. Thanks for the reply...really appreciate it:-)

hi I applied to g-town EA and was deffered
I'm third in my class and have taken hard classes etc. etc. you know the drill
the thing about super-competitive schools like g-town is that the admissions process is also super random.
if its your dream school of course apply, and also keep working hard
my advice is don't pin all your hopes and dreams on g-town, it is great, but there are others, trust me

Yah...I know the new SATs are on a scale of 2400 but a lot of the schools don't really put a lot of emphasis on the writing. So...I was just omitting the writing portion.

yeah i would definately say go for it, like tt2volleyball said the admissions process if super random, therefore there's nothing u can do to assure that u will get in. You have the appropriate stats to get in as well as plenty of ECs. You'll probably do well on the SAT and SATII's. So i would say definately apply! Good luck

I agree with the others, apply but do not have your heart set on it. I too was deferred EA and am in the top 2% of my class with excellent test scores and lots of EC's. A deferral is hard to take when you have worked so hard but you get over it and move on. Make sure you have a back up plan, good luck.
