I'm planning on applying to these programs. Should I even bother? Do I stand a chance?
USC BS/MD
Baylor BS/MD
UMiami BS/MD
RPI/Albany BS/MD
Case Western BS/MD
Stony Brook BS/MD

You definitely have a chance to get interviews with at least a few of these with your stats, you may want to get some more medical hours in though between now and when apps are due. Also check out VCU BS/MD, it’s a great program and they take about half their students from out of state… I got in a few years ago from California as well with similar stats to yours.

What sort of medical hours should I try to get more of? I’ll check out VCU, thanks!

And out of the programs there, I’m most interested in USC, Miami, RPI. Are those harder ones to get into?

im in the same situation man(similar stats too). idk if i’ll get into any but i’m gonna try. also check out the Drexel program since i hear its not as hard as some of the others.

good luck bro.

It would be nice if you could boost your SAT score if you’re thinking of retaking it in the fall. Being in the 2200+, preferably even the 2250+ range is usually what you want to be aiming for some of the programs you mentioned.

Other than that though, you definitely have a shot though as you have a number of great ECs, though I agree that it would be great if you could get in some other medical hours between now and application time (shadowing, research, etc.). Good luck!

Good luck to you too snorlax! I looked at Drexel before, but I heard that a lot of people there are unhappy.

Would it hurt me if I just choose not to send in the sat1 score, and only send in ACT? And yup, I’m going to try and continue my shadowing into the school year.

i think it’d be better to only send the ACT score. As long as the programs accept either SAT or ACT you’ll be fine.

Stats on a lower side although within reasonable range D. got rejection from PPSP before interview, she had higher stats. She got into 3 programs at state schools. Finishing off UG portion in one of them. It is very benericial to be in a program, now it is even more evident to her. I am not familiar with CA programs, but it seems that chances at in-state are higher than privates and OOS. Apply widely and best of luck.
