I have 0$ for college. I am requiring financial aid. However, I've heard that John Hopkin's is not so good. Should I just give up on Johns Jopkins and not apply?

Thanks

JHU’s aid is weaker than other schools of it’s caliber, i.e., Northwestern/WUSTL/Brown, but it’s not horrible. You should probably just apply and if you get into a peer school and that school offers you better financial aid, Johns Hopkins will most likely match the offer.

also, if you add hopkins’ financial aid to fastweb scholarships and local scholarships, it might work out. for other scholarships, the amount of money you can get depends on how much work you want to put in. good luck!

There are substantial scholarships that require a work commitment, such as the SMART program. However, I don’t know how much money a student can realistically expect to get from FastWeb and local scholarships. In my experience local scholarships (often associated with essay contests) are usually less than $1,000.

Got to love those spellings. It’s JOHNS HOPKINS … “s” at the end of Johns and no apostrophe in Hopkins. I do think Johns Jopkins is a great spelling though.

I was accepted into Johns Hopkins under a similar condition and I was very worried. If you are really that poor then I think they will be helpful. I could simply be in extraordinary circumstances but my mother could pay practically nothing and I haven’t seen my biological father in a number of years so no child support. Hopkins has honored me with a scholarship which requires me to take out no loans to finance my education. It is simply the predicted amount, because I believe the amount of the scholarship is determined by your EFC, but let’s just say that they are covering all costs except what a work study each semester can cover. I would definitely apply if I were you. here’s the financial aid website, and you can see their need-based and their merit-based scholarship, I have a need-based one. I hope that helps.

my spelling made me laugh as well.
Anyways, thank you everyone. I will apply then.

Definitely apply, maybe you can get a fee waiver? I’m sure that if you were a good candidate for admission, Hopkins would do all in their power to help you out under your situation.
