HI. I am a rising senior and I will be applying to colleges this fall. Yeesh. I have a good gpa and my ec are fine but i am a little worried about my sat score. It is 1450 which places me squarely in the 25% range for most ivy league schools. As of right now, I have no interest in most of those schools but I would like to keep my options open.I am also worried studying for the sat would take away from the time I could be using to write my essays. Any advice would be useful and appreciated.
One thing i’ve learned is that no matter how high you score, even a 1600 can and will get rejected from IVYs unless you somehow have something impressive(good essay, maybe impressive awards).Generally though,it’s worth retaking IF you can increase your score by a certain amount. If you can get a 1500+ then i’d say go for it.
It comes down to a trade-off you will have to make. Without a major hook, being in the 25% range for standardized tests will hurt your chances for hyper-competition colleges but even a perfect score will not guarantee admission.
