I just took a diagnostic for the science portion and got - holy crap so ick - a 22 scaled score! I took the PLAN (practice ACT) in sophomore year (I'm a junior) and got a 27 all together.

My PSAT was a 197 and I've been practicing math (the part that screwed me over, I got what would be a 750 R / 560 M / 660 W).

So, as the title suggests - what do you guess think? Do you think I should bother continuing with ACT prep or just screw it and just take the SAT?

Thanks for any help :)

I think you should go ahead and do both, you never know. I ended up doing better on the ACT than the SAT and I studied more for the SAT.. The ACT was just a better test for me. Take at least one of them by April, so that you have time to retake at least once before sending in applications, because, remember, you may need time to take the SAT II's as well.

Take both. Remember with the ACT the colleges only know about the one ACT test result you want them to know about it(if you take the ACT more than once, you can make sure colleges only know about the one you did best on; with the SAT, the SAT people report all SAT testings to the colleges whether you want them to or not).
One potential gotcha: When your school sends your transcript make sure that ACT test results are not on it--otherwise it will presumably show multiple ACT testings.
If you insist on only taking one test, Princeton review has a test that supposedly assists in telling you if you are more likely to do better on the SAT or ACT.
Good luck!

Thanks so much for the advice :)

I got a 23 on the science in the ACt but a 28 overall which isn't terrible, do not worry, you should definitely take the ACT.

I did horribly on the PLAN test but ended up getting a 32 on my ACT with minimal study. I suggest taking both, but the ACT worked out better for me.

Yeah, I'd still take the ACT. Just practice for it. What have you done so far for practice, besides the one test?
