Should I bother?

I've been really interested in Pitzer and I feel like its the perfect school for me. I'm an African American New York City student with lots of experience in politics and social activism. I've been involved in several organizations outside school as well as in my school community by organizing school clubs to support students of color and encourage discussions about race. I also have an interesting family background with family members part of the 60's Black Panther Party and also SDS and etc, who have influenced and inspired my activism. I've also travelled internationally and have had plenty of internships.
However, my sat scores are very low, each section i scored mid 500 range (im a terrible test taker). But i have a 90 average.
I'm a great writer and i have a great personal statement, but should i bother with such low sat scores. I was going to send tests from my classes, but i dont have a math test to send bc my teacher doesnt save them.

Pitzer admissions rely less on standardized test scores than most colleges, so I would say, yes, definitely apply. If your gpa and/or class standing is high enough, you don’t have to submit test scores. See [Pitzer College - Admission - First Year Applicants](http://www.pitzer.edu/admission/applying/applicants_firstyr.asp)
Good luck!

Alright thanks!

It sounds like Pitzer is a good match for you- make sure your SAT replacement is awesome and you should have a decent shot. Good luck!

Hey, if you have a gpa above 3.5 or are in the top 10% of your class, you aren’t even required to send in SAT scores! I love pitzer, haha

With a screen name like “soulchild” Pitzer is a great match for you!

And I agree with all the advice - your accomplishments and passions reflect your abilities and personal fit. Pitzer is test optional, so you should apply.
