Should I cancel my SAT II math score?

I just took the SAT II math test on June 2.

I skipped 2 questions and I know for sure that I got 2 questions wrong. I may still get a few others wrong...

Overall I don't feel so good about the test, but I don't know if I should cancel or not. I was aiming for a 800 but I don't think I can get that anymore (with 2 skips and 2 wrong minimum...) Do you think it's best for me to cancel? How's the curve for Math IIC?

I heard that most Ivy/ top 20 schools do not use the Score Choice policy, so I'm freaking out.
I'm a sophomore at high school at the moment. I'm thinking of doing an economics/ psychology major. I know math is related to economics, so I'm worried.
What's an acceptable score for SAT II math to get into one of the top 15 schools?

By the way I'm taking Calculus at school... And as for feeling so uneasy about the test, it's because I managed my time wrong. Normally on practice tests, I skip none or 1 question, and I have 20 minutes left when I finish the test, but during the real test I decided to pace myself and then ended up only with about 10 minutes to spare. (Which, for me, isn't so great)

Please help :) I have till Wednesday to decide, but I'm going on vacation early so it'd be great if you could get back to me as soon as possible.

Firstly, the fact that you are a sophomore should make you relax. You can still take the subject tests in your junior or senior years. For top 15 schools, a 750+ score is generally great, but don’t forget that a lot of factors go into admissions. So you can cancel the score if you think you will not get a score in the acceptable range.Canceling the score can also help you in the sense that you have already taken the test and you know what it is like, so you will be starting afresh next time but with a background in mind.

Just as I said, you have so many test dates ahead of you. From the tone of your post, I will advice you to cancel the score.

I know for sure I got above 750 but I was aiming for a 800 (and I should be getting around that considering I’m taking Calc this year and taking AP Calc next year :/). Yeah I’m relieved I’m a sophomore. I think I’ll definitely retake it next year regardless of whether I cancel or not.
I was originally going to keep my score but I was told that it’s not good to retake the SAT subject tests? Is this true?

Really? I’m hearing this for the first time…

You can miss around 5 for an 800.

I asked around and all my friends are telling me not to cancel… I know they’re right but it’s frustrating because I was aiming for a 800.
Is it okay to just keep this score and take it again next year as a junior? Or is it pointless if I have a 770-790 range?

Subject tests aren’t that important if you have over a 750. SAT or ACT composite matters.

Don’t cancel. I took the math II test as a sophomore after having taken precalc and got a 760; I retook it this May after taking Calc BC and earned my 800. My percentile jumped from 78% to 88%, even though my score only jumped 40 points. I don’t think it’s really that bad to retake a subject test if it’s a) important to your major and b) has as lenient of a curve as math II has. Both were true in my case. The fact that I’m home-schooled also factored into my decision; test scores will carry significantly more weight for me than they probably will for you.

So if you don’t get an 800, I think it’s fine to retake the test. Just don’t retake too many other tests (e.g. maybe don’t take the SAT Reasoning more than twice) so that you don’t appear overly test-obsessed.

That said, you can’t necessarily be sure that you didn’t get an 800! As noted above, an 800 is only the 88th percentile; there’s definitely a significant curve. (See [SparkNotes: SAT Subject Test: Math Level 2: Math IIC Scoring](<a href=“SparkNotes: Today's Most Popular Study Guides”>SparkNotes: Today's Most Popular Study Guides).) If you leave 2 blank, you can get as many as 4 questions wrong and still get an 800. :)

Just in case my point wasn’t clear –> DON’T CANCEL.
