Should I cancel my score? (ap lit)

I'm going to major in chemical engineering, and I only need English 101 in college. I got a 5 on the AP Lang test last year, which gives me credit for that class. I just took AP Lit because I wanted to be in a challenging class with people who actually care.

Today on the lit test, I completely bombed it. I drew zig-zags on my scantron. For essay #1 I wrote my answer in poem form; it was actually a really good poem. Essay #2 I wrote an argument that the character was actually from another planet, and essay #3 I just skipped. There's no doubt in my mind that I got a 1, but I don't even care.

Should I cancel my score? I will never see my teacher again, but she knows I could have gotten a 5 if I tried...she'll probably hate me forever now. Also, is there any chance my college will refute my ap lang score since it will be on the complete opposite end of the spectrum?

Can I cancel the score for just one test, or are all the tests I took going to be canceled if I cancel this one?

Dude, school year is over in a month. Dump her and the score, your future is longer than one month.

Taking the test was honestly fun.
So you’re saying I should cancel it?

keep your score do college won’t care and it’ll help the curve haha

Don’t they grade it anyway and include it in the curve even if it’s canceled?

Keep it! Haha most people did better on the test than normal this year, so you’ll help the curve, and colleges don’t give a ■■ at this point. Keeping it won’t refute your Lang score or make it look fake or anything, don’t worry. And yeah, you can cancel just one score.

WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU WASTE $86!!!
That’s a college application… or a video game or two… :/

Thanks Wanton. I just don’t want an awkward moment when registering for classes…“so, you got a 5 on ap lang?” “Yeah.” “Ok, you get credit for Eng 101…you got a 1 on AP Lit?” facepalm lol

I feel kind of bad about blowing it off, but I could not think of one good reason to actually try. Not one.

Bernier, I had no choice. Our school supplements $43 for our test (half) and if we don’t take the test we have to pay them the $43 they promised to pay. I also wouldn’t get ap class credit.

By the way to everyone, you’re very welcome for helping the curve. :)

Essay #2 I wrote an argument that the character was actually from another planet

^
That sounds excellent xD

But yeah if the score doesn’t matter and you know you’ll get something low you can just cancel it.

Seniors often bomb the test on purpose - because they know it does not count. schools are used to it. Don’t bother cancelling. They will know why you got the low score.

My daughter took Human Geo at a local private school. She was a freshman, but the class was offered to seniors at that school. It was her first AP test. She was a little intimidated about being in a room with all those seniors. She was totally freaked out when they all seemed to nap through the exam.

Haha, I have seen this many times as well! When I took AP bio as a freshman, all the seniors gave me at thumbs up/patted my back on the way out to show their support because I was actually trying lol!

@ OP - A college will understand you winged it. This is a standardized exam and getting a 5 on Lang and a 1 on Lit is clearly evidence of christmas treeing, not stupidity. Nobody can get that big a difference without some major problem.
