Should I cancel my scores (worried about the May 1st test)

I haven't prepared for the SAT at all; I did well on my PSAT -- 210. But I got a 63(0) in Math, which is the subject I am most worried about. I'm doing some preparation tonight, but I feel that I should have studied sooner (obviously) and am worried about my results. The thing is that I'm taking my SAT IIs on June 5th, so I can't take the SAT I then.

I'd have to take it fall senior year, which seems risky.

I'll wait and see how I feel after the test, but at this point...

...what do YOU think?

the SAT now lets you choose which scores you send. Take it, see what you get and you aren’t happy, you’re no worse off.

In my opinion, you don’t have to take SAT II,if you can’t get a good result of SAT I on 1st May?
Prepared and do well in your SAT I~~

If you feel that it’s necessary that you take it again, simply try to take it as early as possible: study over the summer, sign up for the earliest testing time which you can so that it doesn’t become a hinderance for other pursuits. However, judging by your PSAT, the only thing you’d need to be concerned is the math portion, and these sorts of sometimes: when I took the SAT in October, I got a 680 in Math, only to get a 75(0) on the math portion in the PSAT two weeks later. I’m not sure if the PSAT and SAT are relatively similar in difficulty (despite taking both), but it seems that way to you, I would accept the results, and if worse comes to worst simply take it again. Depending on where you intend on applying, it seems that the SAT varies in pertinence amongst different types of schools(in some applications, it’s not even necessary), so you may want to look into that.

I’m applying to some schools that see ALL scores, so that’s another issue.

Hey neutralmilk, I am in the exact same position as you. I too took the May 1st SAT today for the first time and am planning to take SAT II’s in June along with SAT again in fall senior year. However, I did not get a good nights sleep last night and although I felt like the test went fine I think I wasn’t able to do my best… So if we are taking it again in the fall I really don’t see a benefit of canceling the May score as that would seem extremely risky if lets say something happens in the fall and someone were to mess that up again.
BTW, don’t most kids take the SAT again during the fall? Also, would it be better to take the SAT in June again and just take the SAT II’s in the fall?

I would recommend taking the SAT IIs later on, if it comes to it that you need to retake the reasoning. Depending on what colleges you apply to, subject tests may only count towards placement/exemptions, and are generally taken after students are done taking the reasoning test. Don’t cancel prematurely, there’s a lot more of a risk in that than waiting it out and seeing what you got. Even if colleges can see all of your SAT scores, they generally disregard all but the highest or sometimes even look to see growth. (It’s pretty pretentious if they see that you retook the test after receiving higher scores, 2100+, etc.). Given the multiple offerings of the SAT, you are bound to be able to have the opportunity to take it enough times that you can receive a score you feel comfortable with.

But I do plan on applying to BU (maybe BC) and both of them require SAT 2’s… do you think they would care if I sent in those a little late? IF I even have to?
