Should I change major to architecture?

Hello, I’m an international student, currently attending a cc. I’ve always been torn between civil engineering and architecture n end up choosing engineering as my major but I’m still torn lol. Right now, I’m struggling with my physics class, but I’m okay with math (have taken calc 1 n 2 so far n got A n B respectively). So, I’m truly considering to change major to architecture (in high school, I took art class n it’s the only one where I truly put a lot of effort n got an A2 in GCE O Level (an exam administered by Cambridge) while the rest, I.e. Science n math, only got Bs). So, should I change my major?

But, my main concern is a lot of university (offering architecture) cost (for oos or international) more than 50k per year while for engineering, it’s about 50k at max (I’m talking about schools like Purdue, VA Tech, etc not UCs). N I don’t want to burden my parents financially. In addition to that, many of them require portfolio n I don’t know what I should draw in a portfolio (in my cc, there’s only interior architecture classes so I’ve never taken any architecture or art class)

Furthermore, considering the economy, a career in buildings (be it architecture or civil engineering) is now having its tough moment (but engineering still provides more security). So, this adds more to my dilemma :expressionless:

My advice is to take an architecture studio as an elective and see if you like it. If you don’t love math and physics then I would consider changing your major. Engineering is science based, while architecture is business and design based. However, architecture school is really demanding. It will involve drawing, modeling, photoshop, and AutoDesk programs. Architecture also has science courses like structures and building science, but it is not as intense as engineering. If you really enjoy design I would recommend architecture. However, there is also real estate development, urban planning, and construction management that you can look into. Also, architects get paid less than engineers, but don’t let this make your decision.
