Hello, I am currently a freshman majoring in Mechatronic Engineering. Let’s just say that it is kicking my butt. I spend 6 to 8 hours a day doing homework after classes. I am still getting C’s and everything after working so hard. In my intro to engineering class, I am really not enjoying anything. It isn’t that great. I am thinking about changing my major to construction management. I feel like that might be something I enjoy. I don’t have much experience in building stuff, but I find it interesting. I am always watching TV shows on building houses and things like that. The thing I am worried about is getting a job after if I did switch my major. Is construction management a good degree where I can make a decent living?
If you don’t like it switch! Construction Management has a pretty good outlook in the future since new things are being built all the time. The highest paid construction managers can make around 150k dollars a year.
As we well know from the recent recession, the construction industry is apt to have major ups and downs. Be prepared for that.
