I am currently signed up to take French 4 next year. However, our French teacher is going to be abroad next year and a new teacher from abroad will teach us. So, I wanted to drop French, and doing so will allow me to take AP US Gov't or even independent study in AP Econ. Should I drop French or does 3 years of foreign language look bad for Ivies?

APs for next year: Calc BC, Psych, Chem

3 years is perfectly fine even for ivies. With that said, I’d still say you take french 4, just because your other options aren’t that important (self-study AP US govt?)

4 years is probably better, but hey, I know quite a bit of people that got in with 3 years; it isn’t a strict formulaic thing, as you probably know.

Just take French. Maybe you’ll like the new teacher…

i dont think it matters much, so just take what you think you’ll actually enjoy the most…for me personally, it would be french
