Should I change schools? Please help!

Super conflicted right now...

The Situation: I am a freshman student in Canada, entering sophomore year very soon. I attend an IB school currently, but I don't really like it; the teachers this year are much more incompetent than they were last year. I'm looking at some schools with AP right now, and found a couple of really good choices. The problem is that I would have to stay in my school for sophomore year (since I already paid the tuition) and I can only move in Junior year. I realize that sophomore and junior year are the most important, so I'm really not sure if I should switch schools.

I'm planning on participating in various activities in my school for sophomore year. If I change schools, I may have to re-found the clubs, and some of my extracurricular activities may be disconnected. I know that schools like Princeton want continuity and passion for extracurriculars. What should I do? Would it affect me if they realize that I switched from IB to AP? I really want to attend Princeton University after high school.

Please, any help would be appreciated!

Have you investigated whether the school would refund all or part of your tuition if you make the switch this fall? It’s only May and schools don’t start up again until September so I think it would be worth investigating. The other part is the quality of teaching you are receiving. I think the bigger concern with making the switch after sophomore year is that you would be another year behind where you could be with better instruction.
