I'm thinking of choosing the Arts and Adventure learning community but i can'd decide. Will it help me to make friends or stunt me from meeting a general mix of ppl?

Well let me post the 2 opposing views... Here's what melo just said on my thread: "im not going to one. i cant be living with a whole bunch of people like me. ill slap someone. i would wanna ive around a whole bunch of different people. its more interesting."
I, on the other hand, don't think that I'll shackle myself down to one type of person by joining a LC. (Btw, I chose "Languages, culture, & arts," then "international lc" then "discovery.") I think a LC will allow me to make friends who have similar interests, academic and not, while I'd probably have to search longer otherwise to find people with the same passion. I also doubt that my neighbors will be all the same type of people just because they like the same language as me . I don't know about Arts and Adventure, that does sound like you would be searching for mostly one kind of person. However, if you think that's who you fit in with best, I think you should try it out. You can build some solid friendships with them that way for the first year, and IF you think that it's somehow keeping you from meeting other people, you can't choose random assignment housing next year. But I really don't think it's going to smother you. To me it sounds rather like a club--except you live near each other!! And again, there's a ton of ppl at SU, and other clubs you can join, so I'm sure you wont be limited to just Arts and Adventure people.

I agree with Faleene completely. You're going to make friends that like art and that's one of the purposes of an LC . It's not like you wont be meeting other people on campus and secluding yourself. You might find it easier your first year anyhow to have people around you who share a common interest.
