Should I choose Business Econ or International Studies at UCI?

Which major should I go with? I'm thinking about minoring in management as well. Is one major less competitive than the other? If anyone could help me out that would be awesome. Asked my counselor, but she is not giving me a straight answer. Says both majors are great and I shouldn't pick one major just because it's easier.

I’m a senior at UIUC studying Finance and Business Administration so I can speak from my experience. You should be thinking about what major(s) your target jobs/companies want and the more quantitative/technical your major is, the more options you will tend to have. At least at UIUC, most entry-level positions have you work as an analyst of some sort, so I’d probably lean toward economics.

The way you phrase the question is one less competitive, gives the impression that you are looking for the easier major so she was right to give you the answer she gave. But easier is subjective. To an analytical person, business economics would be easier. And Reasonable is definitely correct when it comes to analysis. I have been in the workplace for years and virtually every jobs requires some level of analysis.

As for your management minor, since the business econ major is in the school of social science, it makes a lot of sense to me. Also, computer classes are always useful.
