I got into MSU's honors program but not into UMN's. My sat score is around 2150. I finally chose MSU but I am wondering if I made a mistake. I will be majoring in the sciences so maybe Minnesota will offer more prospects in terms of job opportunities, especially since Michigan is the second most depressed state in the USA.

I also just post a question with similar concerns, reguarding graduate school ( medical school)… as I plan to attend graduate school out of state. I think Michigan State University is a good pick over University of Minnesota- Twin Cities ( both are good schools).

Go to Minnesota. It is a great school with a GREAT campus and is literally right accross the river from downtown.

Have you visited UMN?

MSU is as wonderful school. Lots of research on campus. Great sciences. great school spirit. You made a great choice.

The campus and town are wonderful.

You will not be disappointed.

The economic situation is bad in Michigan, however, that will only affect you if you plan on working in MI after graduation. By then we all hope the financial situation has turned around. You will seek jobs wherever they are, regardless of if you study in Michigan.

(By the way, I am an MSU grad, both undergrad and grad school, OOS, and did just fine. MSU was the perfect choice for me. )
